About Me

My journey through healthcare

I started off working in an ER department in Calgary as a nursing assistant. Once I completed my LPN diploma I took a job on a neurology unit. After a few years of work, I decided to go back to school; I got my degree in Psychology from Mount Royal University. During that time, I took a new LPN position at a Forensic group home with Alberta Health Services (AHS); LIGHTHOUSE. Here I got to explore the relationship between mental health and the law. A few years into this role I choose to go back to school (again!). In order to pay for school I also took on another job; an LPN role at a community clinic in Calgary AB; The Alex Youth Health Centre (YHC). It was here I found my passion for community care with the vulnerable and marginalized population. After two years of frontline nursing, I transitioned into a social position; Complex Case Manager (still at the Alex!). In January of 2020 I graduated with my Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Then, pandemic took over in March of 2020! I decided to move into a leadership role in May of 2020 at the Youth Health Centre community clinic. Check out my blog post here to learn more about my current leadership role.

Outside of work I enjoy hiking and camping with my tripod dog Peggy Sue. We love to explore the Canadian Rockies and spend time on mountains or around a lake. We also occasionally work for the Canmore AB SPCA. This is a shelter for cats and dogs who have no home or have been surrendered.

Thank-you for exploring my page!
